GWA Cars and Finance

Going the extra mile...

New and used cars, finance and peace of mind.

When the idea of raising the speed limit to 80mph was first reported, at a time when other countries in Europe were proposing to cut theirs, the general consensus in the GWA Cars & Finance office was that the government had a dose of motorway madness. Well, nobody took any notice of Gary and me.
The proposal is back and I still think that this is a bad idea. A faster speed limit will enable people to get to work quicker and help boost the economy? I don’t think so – it might get people to the hospital quicker. I enjoy a fast car as much as the next person in the proper surroundings, but encouraging drivers to push 90mph (because we all push the limit to the max) is a recipe for more accidents and more pollution.
It all seems a little absurd and this got me thinking that perhaps it’s a means of distracting us from other, larger problems. But enough of the politics and cynicism, let’s concentrate on the cars. You don’t have to break the speed limit to enjoy these cars on our forecourt.
We have a 2007 metallic silver VW Golf 2.0 GTTDi 140 5-door Hatchback that is a joy to drive for £7,995 and a 2010 carbon black BMW X5 xDrive 35d M Sport Auto for £42,995 that is equally as impressive on the road. And, whatever the speed limit, a GWA Vehicle Protection Pack will keep you safe.
