For some reason, after a weekend racking up countless miles in the car, fuel economy is on my mind. Electric cars obviously offer great savings, but I think it’s worth mentioning that there are plenty of fuel-efficient petrol cars out there. I did a little digging and came up with some interesting results.
According to MSN cars, the most fuel-efficient car on sale in Britain is the Kia Rio 1.1 Ecodynamics, which averages 85g/km CO2, followed by the Smart ForTwo cdi diesel, the Toyota Prius T3, the Toyota Auris Hybrid, the Skoda Fabia Greenline and the Volkswagen Polo Bluemotion. GWA Cars & Finance can source and provide the finance and leasing for all these cars.
Also on the list are the Alfa Romeo MiTo 1.3 D JTDM, which is described as the most economical Alfa Romeo to date, and the Mini Cooper D 112, which is called the greenest Cooper ever. We have the new Mini Cooper Diesel available from £247 per month and the new Alfa Romeo MiTo 1.3 D JTDM Lusso from £197 per month.
The Hyundai i10 also makes the list – I was talking about the new i30 the other week – as does the Toyota IQ 1.0. We have a 2009 Toyota IQ 3 1.33 VVTi available for £8,995.
There’s a good range of cars on the list and I think that the petrol ones will continue to be popular as electric cars are not quite the finished article and hybrid cars remain out of the price range of many buyers.
