What’s hot on the GWA news desk this week? Well, we’ve got an update on the Aston Martin Cygnet and the latest marketing for the 2011 Rapide. There’s also news of something very different from Ferrari.

I talked about Aston Martin’s move into city-runaround territory in a post last year and I have got some more details: the British car company will launch its new Cygnet model in the spring, with the first buyers receiving their keys in May. Black and white launch editions are available for £39,995.

If your budget can’t stretch that far, the Toyota IQ (on which the Cygnet is based) is a more affordable option. We’ve got a previously cherished model, exempt from road tax, on the GWA Cars & Finance forecourt for £8,995.

Expect to see a lot more press about the Cygnet in the coming months from Aston Martin. For the time being, take a look at this viral marketing campaign for the new four-door Rapide (taking on the Porsche Panamera, among others). Playing on its 007 connections, it falls a bit short of Bond’s eloquence, shall we say.

Staying with supercars, I have to mention this – the first-ever four-wheel-drive Ferrari. It looks great (a bit BMW Z4-esque?) and with a top speed of 208mph, it sounds a lot of fun.

Taking of BMWs, we have a great BMW X5 xDrive 35d M Sport Auto available at the moment. It’s a good excuse to combine practicality with a bit of punch: five doors and 15,000 miles on the clock, it costs £44,995.
