So, who’s got a million quid to spend on a garage? And by garage I mean somewhere to park your car. This one’s iconic and there’s plenty of room for your sports car collection, and you could even squeeze in the new Mercedes C Class.

I’m assuming not too many people, but if you do, the garage featured in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, which played host to one of the most appalling scenes of automobile destruction (Cameron Frye sending his father’s prized Ferrari Spyder to a splintery death), is up for sale. US$1.65 million also gets you the house attached to it – The Rose House and Pavilion in Highland Park, north of Chicago.

Interestingly (and somewhat reassuringly), the Ferrari used in the film wasn’t a real Ferrari – merely an MG with a fibreglass shell. What definitely is real is the new Mercedes C Class, which is due to hit the UK roads in March.

The new Mercedes C Class is an important launch for the German manufacturer as the model is its best seller – 98,000 since March 2007 in the UK. As you might expect then, there’s plenty of attention to detail, including ten new driving assistance systems, including Attention Assist, which detects driver drowsiness.

Mercedes has been scrubbing up the green credentials of the C Class as well. Fuel consumption has been improved and the model is now the proud bearer of the Blue Efficiency badge.
