It didn’t take us long but it seems the GWA Cars & Finance blog is setting the news agenda on its doorstep. In last week’s post I mentioned that a lack of parking spaces was a real problem in Chichester and what was one of the main headlines on the front of this week’s Chichester Observer? “500 parking spaces needed for Chichester”.
Apparently councillors have been discussing this issue for a while and solutions raised include a new multi-storey car park and an extended park and ride site. The latter would certainly help the traffic problems at the weekends. As for the former – where would it go?
Staying with parking, last week I found out about a large car park in Chichester that I never knew existed. Apparently, there’s an underground car park below the site being converted into a Travelodge. I guess that has been empty and unused for some time.
At the same event that I found out about the car park, I also learnt more about electric cars: not the mainstream hybrids that I’ve talked about in previous blogs, but ones for racing. I met someone from Greenpower, a sustainable engineering company, who told me how they provide people with an opportunity to design, build and race electric cars. Sounds like great fun to me.
These electric cars are quite small, which would make them ideal for driving (and parking!) around town. Well, almost. Vehicles that do fit the bill (in terms of size; they’re not electric) are a Toyota Aygo 1.0 VVTi and a Peugeot Bipper van. We’ve got a special offer on both: new from just £129 and £174 a month respectively.
