Electric cars: how do you make them attractive to the masses (besides by lowering the price)? Well, some innovative advertising will help and that’s exactly what Toyota has been up to. They’ve made this video to promote their Toyota Auris Hybrid.
It has been a long time since domestic rival Honda caught people’s imaginations with its two-minute panoramic Impossible Dream advert, but there has been little to rival it since. That is until now – maybe.
Toyota’s “Get your energy back” video is an extraordinary 3D mapping affair. Strikingly visual and filmed in Shoreditch, it very much ticks the contemporary and clever boxes. In terms of innovation, it comfortably sits alongside Volkswagen’s Gene Kelly Singing the Rain remix effort a few years back. I also think it has something of Tron about it, in a good way.
It’ll be interesting to see what it does for sales of the Toyota Auris Hybrid.
