Eric Lundgren’s Phoenix electric car, which has essentially been built from waste has smashed the Guinness Book of World Records title for longest range of an electric vehicle.

The Los Angeles based environmentalist’s 3 Series BMW made from recycled parts and costing just £10,000 to build has smashed the Guinness Book of World Records title for longest range of an electric vehicle. It completed1,600kms (994 miles) at the Auto Club Speedway of California on a single charge to break the record.

The purpose of The Phoenix is to showcase the process of Hybrid Recycling, developed by Mr Lundren into a national recycling movement by individuals and businesses, and demonstrate to the world the amazing possibilities and potential derived from electronic waste recycling.
