Just like asking Gary if he wants a coffee, the answer to the question “is the UK compact SUV market going to be competitive in 2012?” is undoubtedly “yes”. Vauxhall is the latest manufacturer to throw its hat into this ring with its Vauxhall Mokka, while Audi has given us a glimpse of its Audi Q3 Vail compact SUV.
I mentioned at the end of last year that the UK compact SUV market was hotting up and the Vauxhall Mokka will add another iron to this particular fire. The new model, which represents the UK car company’s first steps into small SUV territory, will be officially unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
At first glance, it looks good, but it will have its work cut out competing with the likes of the new Citroën C4 Aircross and Mazda CX-5, as well as the already-established Nissan Qashqai. However, none of its competitors have the opportunity to make such a delicious-sounding hybrid launch – the Skinny Mokka (sadly not a GWA original).
Moving up in the world, Audi has published the first pictures of its Audi Q3 Vail. This is certainly a more styled beast; it needs to be as the Audi Q3 range must compete with the likes of the Range Rover Evoque, the Porsche Cayenne and the Maserati Kubang. Again, the early shots are impressive, with the large grill giving it a particularly macho look.
GWA Cars & Finance can source and provide finance for all these compact SUVs as and when they come on the market. But if you want something sooner, we have a 2010 BMW X5 xDrive 35d M Sport on the forecourt and the new Nissan Juke 1.5DCi available on special offer.
