I mentioned a while ago on the GWA Cars & Finance blog that BMW is developing an autopilot system, well, I see Volkswagen is also getting in on the act. I’ve also got some details on the new VW Golf Cabriolet and the new VW Golf GTI.
I read the other day that Volkswagen had tested its Temporary Auto Pilot system, converting a Passat to drive with minimal driver supervision. Features such as lane-keep assist and adaptive cruise control have been combined to create a system that accelerates, brakes and steers. You know those futuristic films where we’re just passengers in computer-driven cars? I think we’re well and truly on our way there.
Coming back to the present day, the new VW Golf Cabriolet is out. The roof would be up more than down at the moment, but it looks good in either guise. There are 1.2-, 1.4- and 1.6-litre versions available – we can source them for purchase or leasing. We also have deals on the new VW Passat 1.6 S TDi Bluemotion (from £221 per month) and the new VW Touran 1.6 S TDi BMT (from £225 per month).
Upping the speed a little (well, possibly a lot), I’ve been keeping my eye on news of the next generation VW Golf GTI. Rumour has it that the new model will have 220bhp – the current car has two-litre turbocharged engine. Should be lots of fun, then!
