The Olympic headlines at the moment are all about what makes the Chinese go so fast, so it seems apt that the subject of this week’s post from Gary and me at GWA Cars & Finance is Asian reliability, and in particular, the most reliable used cars in the UK.
So if you’re looking at second-hand cars at GWA and reliability is top of your list, what do you want Gary or me to have for you? According to What Car?, it something from the Far East: Japanese cars have topped their reliability list for the seventh year in succession. Honda is in gold medal position as the most reliable second-hand car make in the UK, with national stablemates occupying a further seven places in the top ten.
Taking silver in 2012 is Toyota, and GWA Cars & Finance has special offers on the new Toyota Auris (from £179 per month) and Toyota Aygo (from £129 per month). The bronze belongs to Lexus, which should increase interest in first shots of the 2013 Lexus Sedan.
Suzuki came in fourth, which gives the make another boost after its Sukuzi Alto 1.0 SZ came out top in a recent Business Car study into the best budget company cars, and Subaru completes the top five. The only non-Japanese cars in the top ten (Mazda, Mitsubishi and Nissan are the others) are Hyundai (South Korean) and Chevrolet (US).
Just outside of the top ten, Vauxhall and Jaguar came in above MG and Chrysler, which is perhaps the only time Great Britain is going to rank above China and the US in a performance table in next couple of weeks. Apart from that, the only way to get more reliability than by buying Japanese is to make sure you invest in a GWA Vehicle Protection Pack!
